I have been playing a few games of Star Wars: Unlimited over at Force Table. It’s been a fun and enjoyable way to learn the new TCG in my spare time. Moving on to this week’s Crowdfunding Champions. Enjoy the champion previews!!
Under our Sun - 17 Days
Under our Sun is one to four player (six with expansions) exploration board game. This is a post apocalyptic themed game which I generally enjoy. Four pledge levels are available.
I picked Under our Sun because of it’s theme, multiple game modes (fully cooperative, semi cooperative and solo), mechanics and it’’s strong price point.
Concerns include learning curve and originality (similar titles at the broad theme level). I will add that in terms of originality the resource management and crafting systems help greatly.
Consider backing Under our Sun if you enjoy post apocalyptic and exploration games.

Armello - 19 Days
Armello is a two to four player game set in a fantasy world. This is a board game based upon a digital tabletop game. Three pledge levels are available.
I picked Armello because of it’s rich open world exploration, it’s family oriented theme and it’s beautiful artwork and components. And while I never played the digital game version, I understand it was a great experience.
Concerns include lack of a solo mode, long game sessions clocking in at two to three hours and setup time.
Consider backing Armello if you enjoy sandbox and exploration games that older children can play.

Flash Point: Legacy of Flame - 13 Days
Flash Point: Legacy of Flame is a sequel to the 2011 board game, Flash Point: Fire Rescue. This is Flash Point with a legacy component. This is a one to six player game with a theme on fire fighting and rescuing victims. Five pledge levels are available to select from.
I picked Flash Point: Legacy of Flame because its commanding a healthy and long-standing 7.2 on BGG. I have never played the original game but many, many people are fans of the general game and it’s core mechanics. I totally dig the theme and game mechanics. The game has a set of tutorial missions which I am a huge fan. And the price is competitive coming in at just ~$200 USD for both this game and it’s original.
Concerns include replayability (like any legacy game) and components and artwork. Now...keep in mind this is 2024 gang. So if table presence is your thing when purchasing a modern board game go elsewhere.
Consider backing Flash Point: Legacy of Flame if you enjoy legacy games, fire fighting themes and character progression.
