Crowdfunding Champions - 2.17.2024

CMON. Continues the Domination.

CMON’s website has been refreshed complete with dedicated Crowdfunding and Pre-order pages. If you take a stroll through their Crowdfunding page you can see at a glance the kind of funding dollars they are ingesting. Impressive is an understatement to say the least. You can also still contribute a late pledge over here at Kickstarter for DCeased - A Zombicide Game.

Top 5 Picks of the Week

We start with CMON. Last five days to back the latest Song of Ice & Fire campaign. If you are a Song of Ice & Fire fan, the decision to back is easy. If you are not a fan, maybe you don’t back it. Aeon’s End is a legend in the deck building genre. Aeon is back…with The Descent project. Last Light has made waves in the board game crowdfunding space, its details are below with the other selections for the week. Philharmonix…give it details a read, you might be surprised. We end the week’s selections with Trailblazer: The Arizona Trail. I talk a lot about Saturday morning solo adventures. The Arizona Trail is a great option for Saturday morning soloists.

A Song of Ice & Fire Tactics (5 Days)

A Song of Ice & Fire is back in an all-new miniatures skirmish game.

The game has resource management and character recruiting mechanics in addition to your standard battlefield warfare tactics. A companion app that is available. This looks to be yet another stellar game coming to us from CMON. Three pledge levels are available with optional buys.

Try: Cyberpunk 2077, Song of Fire & Ice: Starter

Aeon’s End: The Descent (13 Days)

The Descent is the latest in the Aeon’s End line of deck building games.

Among some its most interesting new features is this standalone edition of Aeon’s End introduces helpful allies to its deck building system. Aeon’s End: The Descent consists of four new nemeses, six new mages, four friends and four foes with over 400 cards. Multiple pledge levels are available on this one.

Try: Aeon’s End: Legacy of Gravehold, Aeon’s End: 2e

Last Light (6 Days)

Last Light is a 4x game for two to eight players by Grey Fox Games.

Last Light is a space warfare games featuring resource management and worker placement mechanics. It features 3D planets, a rotating game board and simultaneous actions. I would be remiss without mentioning it also ships with Game Trayz for component storage. Perhaps its most interesting feature among all, is the promise to play a full-fledge 4X game in under one hour. If you are backing this project, back the Deluxe edition.

Try: Search for Planet X, Scythe

Philharmonix (24 Days)

A modern retelling of the classic worker placement gaming system.

Philharmonix is a worker placement game that puts the player into the role of an orchestra manager. You place musicians strategically at various locations to play music and actively recruit new musicians in tandem. The artwork is simply amazing. Premium materials are used throughout the experience as well. Both standard and deluxe pledge tiers are available.

Try: Everdell Collector’s Edition, Everdell Farshore

Trailblazer: the Arizona Trail (19 Days)

The Arizona Trail is the latest trail title from Mariposa Games.

Arizona Trail is a one to four player worker placement and resource management game. The game features beautiful artwork representing the wildlife and natural surroundings of Arizona. This is a solid choice for casual Saturday morning solo adventurers. Standard, deluxe, bundle and retailer pledges are available.

Try: Trailblazer: John Muir, Trails

Musings

Going into the week, I was not seeing much in terms of solid new board game projects. By the end of the week, I am happy to see these results. Philharmonix was a project I was not that interested in at first glance (music via board game?). After reviewing the campaign’s details, my mind is changed. These are all solid projects worth your review for potential backing.

Until Next Time, Enjoy the Tabletop.
